Why there is no fixed price

Chiptuning is not an off-the-shelf product — it is a service tailored to a specific engine. That is why workshops rarely post a fixed price list: the same job takes an hour on one engine and half a day on another, and the risk and equipment are not the same.

What goes into the price

  • Vehicle and engine type — a small diesel (e.g. 1.6 TDI) is not the same as a V6 or a stronger petrol (335i, S3).
  • Stage 1 or Stage 2 — Stage 2 needs hardware too, so it costs more. More in Stage 1 vs Stage 2.
  • Extra solutions — DPF/EGR/AdBlue, TCU/DSG remap and similar are charged separately.
  • Diagnostics and logging — measuring before and after is part of a serious service, not an add-on. Why — in Data logging.
  • Warranty — a backup of the original and a guarantee on the work also have value.

Why the cheapest is not the best

The lowest price usually means a generic file pulled off the internet, with no diagnostics and no logs. That is the most expensive way to bring a breakdown forward. What a bad map looks like is covered in Map inspection. A good remap protects the engine as much as it adds power.

How to get an exact price

Send us your model, engine and VIN — from that we give an exact price and a realistic expectation of the gains. Have a look at the Chiptuning page too, with a configurator that shows the rough gain for your engine.
