What a log is

A log is a real-time recording of how the engine behaves. While the car is driven to a precisely defined routine — usually full throttle in one gear from low revs to the limiter — the tool records dozens of parameters several times per second.

The result is not “it feels stronger”, but a table of numbers that can be compared before and after the change.

What we look at in a log

  • Boost pressure — requested and actual. If actual does not follow requested, the turbo or its control has a problem, and no remap happens until that is sorted.
  • Injection and fuel pressure. Shows whether the pump and injectors can keep up with a larger fuel quantity.
  • Lambda / air-fuel ratio. On a diesel, too much soot; on a petrol, too lean a mixture — both are warning signs.
  • Intake and exhaust temperatures. A direct indicator of how well the engine breathes and how much margin is left.
  • Ignition corrections (knock). The single most important parameter on a petrol engine — it shows whether the engine is detonating.

What a log reveals before a remap

Very often a log shows the car is not ready for more power at all: the intercooler is leaking, the turbo will not hold pressure, the injectors are uneven, a filter is blocked or the air flow sensor is on its way out. None of this can be felt in normal driving, but under higher load it turns into a failure.

That is why our rule is simple: if the log shows a problem, the problem gets fixed first. Remapping a faulty engine is the most expensive way to bring a breakdown forward.

How we do it

  • 01 — A log before the change. A recording of the factory state under full load.
  • 02 — Analysis. Checking that every parameter sits within healthy limits.
  • 03 — A map made to measure. Values are set according to what the log showed, not to a generic template.
  • 04 — A control log. The same driving routine after the change — the comparison shows both the gain and whether everything stayed within limits.
  • 05 — Fine tuning. If the control log shows a deviation, the map is corrected and measured again.
